What is the refer-O-scope ?
The goal of the tool presented here is to help relatives, loved ones and education and health professionals identify the potential signs of psychosis in at-risk individuals.
Why ?
By spotting the early warning signs of the disease, you can help minimize its adverse effects and be proactive in seeking out professional help.
Researchers have demonstrated that a preventive approach helps decrease the devastating effects of psychosis on the brain and on the person's frame of mind and relationships, in addition to improving quality of life for the people with the illness and their families.
The refer-O-scope addresses concrete concerns, as once psychosis symptoms appear, those close to the person may wonder how they missed the first signs of the illness.
This questionnaire is therefore meant to guide your observations. Once you have completed the questionnaire, you will receive a recommendation and a list of care and support resources in your region that can give you the assistance that best fits your situation. The tool collects as much data as possible to help you explain the situation to a health care professional, if necessary.
No matter what recommendation you receive, don't hesitate to consult a health care professional if you still have concerns.
How to use it ?
If you would like to keep the questionnaire after filling it out, you will be able to download or print it. Otherwise, the answers you provide will not be saved on the server.
The refer-O-scope does not allow you to stop mid-way through, meaning that you can't save your answers and continue at a later time. The questionnaire has to be filled out in a single session.
Don't hesitate to read the pop-up boxes, which can help you answer certain questions. Warning! Do not fall into the trap of establishing your own diagnosis. Only a health care professional with expertise in this field is able to diagnose psychosis.
